Meet Your Teachers
Lila, Michael and the other teachers are all Bhakti Yogis and have been living a healthy, wholesome, yogic lifestyle for many years. Amongst them, they have run several yoga retreat centres and yoga schools and taught thousands of classes in the yoga, philosophy and personal development realm.

Lila Kirtana
Lila Kirtana’s journey with yoga began in 2000, and the practice gradually fostered a quiet but undeniable calling to live a more conscious, devotional life...
From 2005 onwards she immersed herself in the teachings of yoga as a Vedic nun in a traditional ashram, where she spent three transformative years in deep study, spiritual practice, and service. There, she completed her 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training and planted the seeds for what would become a lifelong path of sharing yoga from the heart.
Since 2008, Lila has been devoted full-time to teaching, guiding, and nurturing others on their yoga journeys. As a senior teacher trainer and retreat facilitator, she has mentored hundreds of students, offering them not just technical knowledge, but a path to inner connection and remembrance. She is certified in Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Yoga for Mental Health, and brings a soulful, integrated approach to all that she offers.
As course creator and head teacher trainer at Krishna Village since 2016, Lila has trained over 500 yoga teachers, weaving together traditional Hatha, Bhakti, and holistic Ayurvedic wisdom in a way that is both grounding and expansive. She also teaches on prenatal teacher trainings and facilitates women’s wellness retreats across the Northern Rivers, with a deep reverence for the sacred feminine and the healing power of community.
A devoted mother, Lila brings the essence of yoga into her family life, her music, and her everyday rhythms. She holds a Diploma in Remedial Massage, plays harmonium and drum, and is the lead singer of The Krishna Kirtan band sharing sacred sound and mantra at festivals and regular gatherings.
Lila’s teaching is rooted in bhakti - the yoga of love and devotion - and her offerings are an invitation to come home to your heart, honour the beauty of your own unfolding, and remember that you are already whole.

Michael ‘Laxmivan’
Michael began his yoga journey at the age of 20 when he left his profession as a studio musician and joined a bhakti Yoga Monastery.
For the next 10 years he travelled Australia, New Zealand and India as a brahmachari monk, daily studying the traditional yogic canons and engaging in strict daily yogic sadhana.
After another 6 years as a traditional Vedic (Hindu) priest, he took an interest in the more physical aspects of yoga and successfully completed a 3-year diploma course with Satyananda Yoga, before finally finding his passion with Power Vinyasa.
Since then he’s been certified by Baron Baptiste, became certified with Anti Gravity level 2, founded one of Australia’s most successful regional yoga studios, and has helped develop and facilitate many teacher training programs in Australia.
As a teacher trainer, Michael brings with him great integrity and depth, forged by more than 31 years of strict, yet joyful daily practice.
His teaching is full of compassion, humour and authenticity, with a deep respect for tradition, but without being over zealous.

Henrike Schreer
Henrike is one of the co-founders of the Krishna Village Retreat Center and was (co-)managing it for six years from 2013-2019. She has returned in 2023 part-time to take the marketing under her wings again.
She loves the creative challenge of business development and marketing for heart-centred businesses and will share her passion for creating win-win scenarios and 'good' business.
In her classes, Henrike will share with you the strategies and tools she has used to build or improve upon multiple businesses. She will help you clarify your vision and share important steps that serve you the most in your yoga career, wherever you are at in your journey right now.

Marita Dortins
Marita will lead you through the Anatomy section of your training. She is an experienced and dedicated yoga educator with over two decades of teaching experience.
As a former gymnast, she was initially drawn to yoga for the physical benefits, but it’s the more subtle benefits that continue to bring her back to her mat day after day. She began teaching Iyengar-informed yoga in 2002 after apprenticing with her first teacher, laying the foundation for her precise teaching style.
Since then, Marita has completed over 1,500 hours of training, encompassing Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, AcroYoga, Remedial, Trauma-Aware, and Mental Health-Aware Yoga. In addition to her extensive yoga education, Marita holds an Associate Degree in Health and Human Sciences and is passionate about integrating science with yogic wisdom. As a teacher trainer, she has the ability to explain complex subjects in a way that makes them simple and accessible.

Testimonials

Damien
Originally I had planned to undertake my intensive training with my local studio in Sydney, however I wanted to immerse myself in the experience as an opportunity to get to know myself better and really work on my teaching skills. The 200hr training has been a really positive challenge for me - I've connected to myself and others in new ways, opened my heart even more and found a new family in the YTT group. Being in a supported community has allowed me who I am now compared to who I was on day one - the personal growth is incredible.

Emily
This yoga training has honestly been one of the highlights of my life. Being immersed into the yogic lifestyle was crucial for me to receive and then apply all the teachings as I am a feeling-learner, needing to engage fully as a healthy-eating, peace-seeking, loving yogi. The course material has guided me to feel confident teaching so early on, I am amazed at how embodied I feel. The Krishna Village is the perfect place to not only learn how to be a yogi, but a place of community, exploration of self, belonging and joy. I feel so at home here, every single day has been full of glorious moments, deep connection to others and a journey for myself that has changed my life.

FAQ
SEE THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes, and the experience is twofold:
Firstly, we advise that you have some previous experience attending yoga classes and a basic understanding of the postures. If you don't have any experience we do offer our YTT immersion retreat option where you can attend all the classes but don't need to submit any of the assignments and won't receive the certificate at the end.
Secondly, on this RYT-200 Intensive training, we require that you work through the online segments of this course before you arrive, e.g. memorising all the Sanskrit names of the postures. This will allow us to focus on postures, adjustments and teaching practice, with less in-person hours spent on topics that don't require us to be in the same room.
Yes! Pay $600 as your initial deposit to hold your space then contact our admin at info@krishnavillage-retreat.com to organise your custom payment plan. You can also put up to $2000 on Afterpay, if that helps you out.
