Meet your teachers

Michael 'Laxmivan' Kubitzky began his yoga journey at the age of 20 when he left his profession as a studio musician and joined a Bhakti Yoga Monastery. For the next 10 years, he travelled Australia, New Zealand and India as a brahmachari monk, daily studying the traditional yogic canons and engaging in strict daily yogic sadhana.

After another 6 years as a traditional Vedic (Hindu) priest, he took an interest in the more physical aspects of yoga and successfully completed a 3-year diploma course with Satyananda Yoga, before finally finding his passion with Power Vinyasa. Since then he’s been certified by Baron Baptiste, became certified with Anti Gravity level 2, founded one of Australia’s most successful regional yoga studios, and has helped develop and facilitate many teacher training programs in Australia.

Since 2018, he has been one of the two lead teacher trainers at Krishna Village. As a teacher, Michael brings with him great integrity and depth, forged by more than 35 years of strict, yet joyful daily practice. His teaching is full of compassion, humour and authenticity, with a deep respect for tradition, but without being over-zealous.

Lila Kirtana's journey with yoga began in 2000, and the practice gradually fostered a quiet but undeniable calling to live a more conscious, devotional life. From 2005 onwards she immersed herself in the teachings of yoga as a Vedic nun in a traditional ashram, where she spent three transformative years in deep study, spiritual practice, and service. There, she completed her 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training and planted the seeds for what would become a lifelong path of sharing yoga from the heart.

Since 2008, Lila has been devoted full-time to teaching, guiding, and nurturing others on their yoga journeys. As a senior teacher trainer and retreat facilitator, she has mentored hundreds of students, offering them not just technical knowledge, but a path to inner connection and remembrance. She is certified in Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Yoga for Mental Health, and brings a soulful, integrated approach to all that she offers.

As course creator and head teacher trainer at Krishna Village since 2016, Lila has trained over 500 yoga teachers, weaving together traditional Hatha, Bhakti, and holistic Ayurvedic wisdom in a way that is both grounding and expansive. She also teaches on prenatal teacher trainings and facilitates women’s wellness retreats across the Northern Rivers, with a deep reverence for the sacred feminine and the healing power of community.

Lila optimized

A devoted mother, Lila brings the essence of yoga into her family life, her music, and her everyday rhythms. She holds a Diploma in Remedial Massage, plays harmonium and drum, and is the lead singer of The Krishna Kirtan band sharing sacred sound and mantra at festivals and regular gatherings. Lila’s teaching is rooted in bhakti - the yoga of love and devotion - and her offerings are an invitation to come home to your heart, honour the beauty of your own unfolding, and remember that you are already whole.
