BECOME A CERTIFIED REIKI PRACTITIONER
Next course: 26-28 April 2019
Learn to channel gentle, healing reiki energy to nurture, re-energise and protect.
Discover the magic of energy work
Reiki is a is a well-respected and trusted, non-invasive hands on modality. It teaches us to reconnect with the universal life force energy - in Chinese called Qi, in Sanskrit known as Prana.
Reiki not only helps you to heal on a mental, emotional, and physical level, it also supports your personal development by enhancing self-esteem, confidence and self-worth. The training will assist you with energy revitalising, energy protection, grounding, and developing a way to be at peace with yourself and your environment.
This weekend workshop is for individuals and couples likewise. Come along if you are interested in learning to work with Reiki on yourself, family, friends and pets. The workshop is also for people who have had previous contact with Reiki and would like to re-connect with their practice.
You will learn how to channel this gentle soft healing energy, which can be included with any other hands on work. This practice will support you in being more present and heart centred, developing greater compassion and joy.

Meet your facilitators
Joan and Steven are a dynamic and inspiring couple from Sydney and as a husband/wife team have a unique approach to teaching this wonderful modality. They have been receiving intensive training in the Tibetian Usui System for almost two decades and have been facilitating Reiki courses (up to Reiki Master Teachers level) together in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
Joan is a practising Yoga Therapist and Yoga Teacher trainer and has been faculty on teacher training programs for over 12 years. She teaches Reiki in Sydney and at the Krishna Village in Northern NSW and has trained a number of practicing Reiki Master/Teachers throughout NSW. Joan became a Reiki Master Teacher in 2003. Her passion for teaching Reiki has grown over the years and her main focus is sharing her experience and insights to others who feel drawn to healing and helping others.
Steven visited a spiritual retreat centre with his parents at a young age. Ever since, he felt and intuitively knew that our body is capable of having great awareness and ability to heal itself. Over many years, after working with different modalities, he was drawn to Reiki and became a qualified Reiki Master Teacher in 1999.
Steven has found Reiki to be essential in making better life choices and developing a stronger spiritual practice. He has worked with many people from different walks of life, especially supporting men, and has found the ability to hold space in a safe grounded environment a cornerstone to his success. Over the last 10 years in a professional capacity as Executive Officer he has developed management and life skills specialising in quality management and found Reiki an invaluable tool to complement his skill set.
Joan and Steven are both members of the Australian Reiki Connection, Australia’s leading Reiki Association.
Venue and accommodation
Krishna Village is located on a beautiful organic farm in the scenic foothills of Mt. Warning, half way between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. Closest town is Murwillumbah, and the nearest airport Coolangatta (the Gold Coast airport).
We can host up to 75 people in a combination of rooms, dorms and camping spots. There are usually around 25 full time volunteers who work in our organic gardens and maintain the grounds, 10 long term community members and 15-25 retreat guests or Karma Yogis.
All rooms have shared amenities. The amenities block includes showers, toilets and a coin operated laundry (byo laundry powder).
Common areas include the kitchen & campfire area (the heart of the Krishna Village), the reading room (with Internet hotspot) and the yoga hall where we gather for classes.
Single & double rooms
The Krishna Village has 3 double, 5 twin share and 8 single rooms. They are all set in former shipping containers that have been renovated and turned into simple but comfortable accommodation. Most rooms are equipped with bunk beds, bedding is being provided.
Set among beautiful mango and lychee trees in our eastern garden, our camp ground can host up to 20 tents and 10 camper vans. The area for the vans is equipped with electricity. The amenities block is only 50m away.
Delicious Vegetarian Food
The Krishna Farm has been producing organic veggies since the 1980s and has therefore fantastic conditions to grow excellent produce. We grow as much of our own food as we can, and otherwise buy locally wherever possible.
We provide 3 delicious vegetarian meals every day, with lunches taking place at the Krishna Village community kitchen, and breakfast and dinners - mostly Indian style - served at the prasadam hall, next to the temple.
All our food is prasadam - sacred food prepared in a consciousness of loving service. Like in other cultures, we offer our food before we eat to say Grace and thank the Divine for the sun, the rain, and all the visible and invisible blessings necessary to co-create a delicious meal. Feel free to sing along with us, or just listen and enjoy...
The Krishna Farm
Nestled in the foothills of Mount Warning, in the heart of the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, the Krishna Farm “New Govardhana” is a 1000 acre property with orchards, certified organicveggie gardens, cows, horses, streams and swimming holes in abundance.
From the moment when you cross the rustic wooden bridge over the Oxley River and pass through the beckoning avenue of trees which comprises the entrance to the farm, you will notice that this Vedic Yoga Sanctuary is a special place and that your soul finds peace and a sense of coming home.
New Govardhana serves as an ashram to a community of yogis who aspire to live according to their deepest vows and commitments on their path of service, spiritual contentment and happiness, Bhakti Yoga. Their service and dedication make this location a beautiful place of growth, healing and spiritual awakening. If you are interested, please come along and visit our beautiful Radha Govardhandhari temple.
I feel completely blessed that I have been guided over the years through to Level 4 Teacher by Joan and Steve. Their passion for and dedication to Reiki is inspiring. The way in which they show honour to this energy by teaching it with utmost respect ensures that it will continue to be treated with the highest regard by all who are taught by these two incredible people in the future.
A TEACHER OF TEACHERS
I studied Reiki level 1 & 2 with Joan in 2012 and found her knowledge and mindful approach to sharing the teachings highly valuable. I walked away with clarity and understanding of how I could incorporate the teachings into my own personal practice and into my work. As a Movement educator and Manual therapist, it has been hugely valuable to have Reiki as a tool to balance my own energy and that of my clients. Joan’s knowledge of the human body and awareness of energy through touch allows for a supported learning environment where you will feel safe and respected. I have studied with Joan as a Yoga Teacher and body worker and believe she is a Teacher of Teachers. This will be an investment well made.
WARM AND INTERACTIVE ENVIRONMENT
I have attended numerous Reiki workshops and shares hosted by Joan and Steven. It's amazing how knowledgeable they are, and how they always manage to create a warm and interactive environment. They form a great team and I can highly recommend working with them".
Joan's experience and affection for Reiki totally inspired me to focus more on self-love and healing. Before studying level 1 & 2, I thought of Reiki as being a service to others and was completely missing the point that we’ll be limited in what we can facilitate as practitioners if we’re not committing to our own energy and consciousness first. I'd say this is the profound gift Joan shares with you, and in a way that you discover it for yourself so it resonates and sticks! She’s one of the best, most humble and funniest teachers I know.
MASTERFUL SPACE HOLDING
I am so grateful to Joan for her masterful space holding and gentle way of imparting her wisdom to us during our Reiki 1 and 2 transmission. I felt held in a container of pure light, and Joan was truly authentic and clear with every aspect of our course, and beyond. So much gratitude.
