Level 1 Yoga Teacher Training 200 hrs

BECOME A YOGA ALLIANCE CERTIFIED YOGA TEACHER IN 6 WEEKS

Next available course: 27 April – 4 June 2020

Do you love yoga and would like to make a living by following your passion? Would you like to deepen your practice and learn to live a wholesome yogic lifestyle? Are you keen to immerse yourself in an inspiring spiritual environment that is applying yogic wisdom in all areas of life, from nutrition to meditation, from physical movement to spiritual practice? Then join us at the Krishna Village for our 6 week full immersion Yoga Teacher Training.

Love life, live yoga!

In our modern society, yoga has been deconstructed to be only a shadow of its complete whole. It is far from the complexity and power of the original yogic wisdom, which spans all areas of life and provides a holistic system of health, wellbeing and spiritual connection.

At the Krishna Village, we are aiming to revive and teach yoga in its wholeness, so you can BE a yogi, rather than just DO some yoga. Our Yoga Teacher Training is therefore a full immersion program that spans 6 weeks and will allow you to experience yogic living in its entirety. From daily morning yoga to seva in our organic gardens, from philosophy classes to healthy food preparation, from Kirtan singing to mantra meditation you will live and breathe yoga, while being immersed in a kind, loving and supportive community. You will not only learn all required practices to become a fully accredited yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, but will also gain teaching practice with real students through our retreat centre – first co-teaching with fellow trainees and then bit by bit growing into teaching your own classes.

Keen to come along but you don’t want to become a yoga teacher?

Then have a look at our YTT Immersion Retreat option.

Being a yoga teacher is one of the most rewarding careers in the world, and the yoga industry is experiencing an unprecedented growth. That being said, yoga is so much more than an ‘industry’ or a fitness fad – yoga means ‘union’ of body, mind, and spirit. Living and breathing the spirit of yoga every day benefits you and your environment in so many different ways! A consistent yoga practice will make a tremendous difference in your overall health and mental wellbeing, and will help you conquer stress and negative emotions by tapping into a more balanced, equipoised state of mind.

How to Decide if Choosing a Byron Bay Yoga Teacher Training is Right for You

Deciding to embark on this fulfilling and challenging adventure is a big decision. It represents a new direction for your life and a new focus that could come to grow into a lasting career. Yoga teacher training can put you on an exciting path towards enriching the lives of others by empowering them to strengthen their mind, body and soul.

If you are on the fence and trying to decide whether a yoga instructor course is right for you, here is a closer look at some steps you can take to make up your mind.

Is Byron Bay the right location for your Yoga Teacher Training?

When choosing the right place to do your yoga instructor course, factors like cost and quality of life are important. For many people considering Yoga Teacher Training, India seems to be the place to go. Yet bear in mind, that aside from a far and expensive trip, you might also have to face challenges like Delhi belly (sickness if you have issues with the food), sub-standard accommodation and a language barrier.

Doing your Yoga Teacher Training in Byron Bay (or at Krishna Village, in the less touristy and significantly more affordable hinterland) might give you a more healthy and wholesome experience in a safe first world country, and allow you to have your community of fellow yogis close by, rather than spread out far and wide.

Do you want a greater understanding of your body and its abilities?

Undertaking yoga instructor training will take your learning to the next level. As a student, you will have gotten to grips with a range of postures and how your body expresses them. When you undertake formal training, you will find that you will enjoy a much deeper understanding of your body and how you can better serve it.

If you are looking to really take your yoga practice to the next level, becoming a teacher is a valuable step towards advancing your skills.

Do you enjoy forging new relationships?

Throughout your training and your career as a teacher, you will meet and bond with motivated, inspired people who will forever hold a place in your heart. By the end of your experiences together you will have a special understanding of one another, and this connection will help your students feel comfortable and cared for.

The best yoga teacher training will put an emphasis on this connection, helping you to explore interpersonal relationships so you can make each class a powerful, uplifting experience for your students.

Do you have confidence in your abilities?

Over the course of your journey to becoming a yoga teacher, there will be lots of ups and downs along the way. It can be both physically and emotionally demanding, and it is important that you have a

deep-rooted confidence that will help you pick yourself up each time and come back even stronger.

If you believe that you have what it takes, you will find that you can become a more resilient and confident person, and those characteristics will help you to empower yourself and your students.

Are you intrigued by spiritual practices?

By closely studying the yoga sutras, you will gain a deeper understanding of spiritual practices. At Krishna Village, our affordable yoga teacher training will give you the skills and abilities you need to connect on a deeper level and completely transform your life.

This learning and experience will, in turn, make you a more effective and empathetic yoga teacher who can help your students get the most from their own experiences.

Krishna Village is NSW’s best yoga retreat for people looking to relax & recharge. We offer yoga teacher training for visitors who want to become yoga instructors. More about your facilitators

Lila, Michael and the other teachers are all Bhakti Yogis and have all been living a healthy, wholesome, yogic lifestyle for many years. Amongst them, they have run several yoga retreat centres and yoga schools and taught hundreds of classes in the yoga, philosophy and personal development realm.

Lila Kirtana was first attracted to the yogic lifestyle in 2005. During the 3 years she spent deeply immersed in studies as a Vedic nun in an ashram, Lila completed her Level 1 and 2 500 hour certification and has been teaching yoga ever since. From 2008 onwards Lila has worked full time as a yoga teacher trainer and retreat manager in Byron Bay [Certificate IV in Yoga Teaching, RYT-500, Cert IV in Training and Assessment, YACEP]. She completed Pre/Postnatal Yoga training with Bliss Baby Yoga in 2012 and began to teach regularly on their courses until 2016, and after becoming a mother, Lila completed a Children’s Yoga teacher training with Zenergy Yoga in 2014 and has run several terms of children’s yoga classes in Preschool, Primary school and High school. In 2017 she completed a 50 hour Yin Yoga certification, and a Yoga for Mental Health qualification in 2019 and 2020.

Lila has been the course creator and head yoga teacher trainer at the Krishna Village Eco Yoga centre full time since 2016, and has accredited over 300 teachers in that time. She is a passionate advocate for women’s health and the environment, and also teaches on the Prenatal courses run at Krishna Village and various retreats around the shire.

Lila also is a mother to two gorgeous children, holds a Diploma of Remedial Massage, plays various musical instruments and is the lead singer of the enCHANTed kirtan band which holds regular kirtan evenings and performs at various Yoga Festivals, and has a deep knowledge and understanding of Ayurveda through years of study and regular trips to India. Lila is a passionate Bhakti yogi inspired to share the things she loves through her yoga classes and her joy of chanting.

Michael ‘Laxmivan’ began his yoga journeyat the age of 20 when he left his profession as a studio musician and joined a bhakti Yoga Monastery. For the next 10 years he travelled Australia, New Zealand and India as a celibate monk, daily studying the traditional yogic canons and engaging in strict daily yogic sadhana.  Then after another 6 years as a traditional Vedic (Hindu) priest, he took an interest in the more physical aspects of yoga. He successfully completed a 3-year diploma course with Satyananda Yoga before finally finding his passion with Power Vinyasa. Since then he’s been certified by Baron Baptiste, became certified with Anti Gravity level 2, founded one of Australia’s most successful regional yoga studios, and has helped pioneer, develop and facilitate many teacher training programs here in Australia. As a teacher trainer, Michael brings with him great integrity and depth, forged by more than 31 years of strict, yet joyful daily practice. His teaching is full of compassion, humour and authenticity, with a deep respect for tradition, but without being over zealous.

Maria Kirsten, MA, eRYT500, found yoga in 1988, and has been teaching beginner’s yoga in Lennox Head since 2000.  Originally from New York, Maria started her working life at a secondary school English teacher. Certified originally by Yogalates, Maria has continued to study anatomy, yoga therapy and is finishing her qualification to be an Occupational Therapist. Her classes are based on functional movement, and are very visual and fun.

As a lecturer for yoga anatomy, Maria’s mission is to prepare new teachers to teach safe classes that support the individuality and radiance of each of their students. Her work is all about how to make the powerful poses and practices of yoga safe, simple and accessible to all.

Emma fell in love with yoga over 16 years ago and has maintained a disciplined practice ever since. She is passionate about the eight limbs of yoga as a vehicle for awakening to the truth of who we are – to find connection to the divine, creative energy within. Emma is a 200-hr trained Akhanda yoga teacher under the mentorship of Nick Sadashiv Bradley and Radha Rani Bradley of Akhanda Yoga Australia – discovering this holistic and authentic yoga practice 2 years ago after 12 years of  dedication to Iyengar Yoga. Emma has travelled to India a number of times including 2 months with Pankaj Sharma in Rishikesh, in 2003 and spent many years under the guidance of teacher Susan Stackhouse in her Iyengar studio on Sydney’s Northern Beaches as a student and teacher. In addition, Emma has been a primary school teacher for 15 years and is also currently undertaking study to become a Certified Life Coach.

Delicious Vegetarian Food

The Krishna Farm has been producing organic veggies since the 1980s and is well established to grow a variety of high-quality produce, free of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We grow as much of our own food as we can, and otherwise buy locally wherever possible.

We produce three delicious vegetarian meals every day at the temple kitchen, with food served at the prasadam hall at the top of the hill. Additionally, the village kitchen prepares a bountiful vegan lunch on all days except Saturday, when the volunteers take their day of rest, focusing on produce from the organic gardens and catering to gluten free diets. This lunch is served in the village dining area.

All our food, whether served at the village or the temple, is prasadam – sacred food prepared in a consciousness of loving service. Like in other cultures, we offer our food before we eat to say Grace and thank the Divine for the sun, the rain, and all the visible and invisible blessings necessary to co-create a delicious meal. Feel free to sing along with us, or just listen and enjoy…

The Krishna Farm

Nestled in the foothills of the Wollumbin National Park in the heart of the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, the Hare Krishna Farm “New Govardhana” is a 1000 acre certified organic property with orchards, syntropic vegetable gardens, cows, horses, streams and swimming holes in abundance.

New Govardhana serves as an ashram to a community of yogis who aspire to live according to their deepest vows and commitments on their path of service, spiritual contentment and happiness (Bhakti Yoga). Their service and dedication make this location a beautiful place of growth, healing and spiritual awakening. The temple is the beating heart of the community at New Govardhana and we encourage all who visit the property to come along and experience the lifestyle and philosophy reflected by the practice of Krishna consciousness.
