A Mother & Daughter Retreat
A New Way Forward
Do you want to strengthen the bond with your daughter, improve your communication and trust?
Do you wish to acknowledge and honour her journey into womanhood in a beautiful and powerful way?
Do you feel that she would benefit from developing more resilience, learning new life/self-care skills?
This retreat is a transformative experience for mothers and daughters to sustain them both throughout the turbulent teenage years and beyond.

“We believe passionately in empowering girls to honour, love and respect themselves, to develop strength and resilience. To set in place self-care practises that can help them to access their full potential and create joyful fulfilling lives".
The retreat is a chance for young women to learn about themselves through the lens of an ancient holistic healing modality (Ayurveda). This understanding will offer them a different way of seeing themselves compared to the expectations of a beauty biased modern society. Ayurveda is based on the understanding that, as humans, we follow the same laws as the rest of nature. For example, when the sun is burning brightly in the middle of the day, we too experience increased heat in our body and even our mind (think road rage and door slamming!)
We can make choices in our daily lives, and during different stages of life, that will be aligned with Nature’s guidance and thereby experience ease and a fulfilling life. Alternatively, we can make choices to go against our true nature and experience discomfort and a disconnection from our potential. Making positive choices, however, is dependent on having a level of understanding of our unique, individual makeup and what tendencies we have been born with or developed over time. By the end of the retreat you will understand more about yourself and have some simple, practical tools to use when you return home to support your ongoing health and wellbeing.

This retreat also recognises that the role of the mother is changing as she begins the challenging journey of slowly letting her daughter go. The retreat offers mothers an opportunity for self-reflection, facilitates the letting go of any negative past experiences (also any guilt, shame, fear around mothering) so that they can fully embrace the present and envision their ideal future beyond parenting.
“When we heal our own wounds we also set our children free from unconsciously carrying the burdens of the past”.
The retreat is non -religious and follows no particular dogma. It is however held in a sacred manner, with ceremonial/meditative elements. Participants do not have to be spiritual to attend and everyone is individually respected for who they are. The intention of sacredness is to create a special atmosphere of reverence and beauty.
On the last evening the girls are taken through a special ceremony, a rite of passage into womanhood. This is the culmination of the retreat, a sacred celebration of the divine feminine in all of the girls. There will be time for the mothers to share stories/photos of their daughters growing up, bonding and nurturing activities between mothers and daughters, a separation ritual and a final coming back together celebration.
Some more details will be shared on enrolment, although keeping a sense of mystery is also key to our retreat. Be prepared to be delighted, touched, moved and positively transformed.

Meet your Facilitators
Adrienna lives in the Byron Shire and is mother to two young adults, her daughter is 21 and her son is 19. Adrienna has also been working with children and young adults most of her adult life. She is a former art therapist and Steiner kindergarten teacher. She is currently in private practise as a child/adolescent development therapist. Her strongest passion however is facilitating ceremonies and retreats. Adrienna has been working as a celebrant for over 25 years. Born and raised in Ireland she brings a celtic flavour to all events. "Ceremony and rites of passage held cultures and people together for millenium. However this is sadly lacking in our modern western culture. They are vital to give life meaning and context and help people to transition into new phases of life.”

Testimonials
"You held space lovingly and without judgement"
"Yolanda, I found your facilitation and presentation so wonderfully clear and simple. I was so impressed with how you held space lovingly and without judgement. Your questioning skills to get us to explore deeper made me feel so grateful to witness. I truly love great teachers and feel deeply grateful to have been part of your circle."
~ Andrea, Busselton, W.A.

"My girls know they are part of a community of women"
Adrienna conducted a Rite of Passage into womanhood ceremony for all three of my girls, with their close friendship groups. The content, structure and beauty of all the ceremonies was deeply felt. It marked that time in the girls lives with stories, gifts, wisdom and trust and let them know that they were part of a community of women. It was also a proper time to relax, reflect and share stories (and amazing food ) for the mothers. I am ever thankful that Adrienna brought this knowledge and experience of ceremony to our area with her Celtic background and blessings to bestow upon us.
