THE SCRUMPTIOUS SCOOP ON SUNDAY FEASTS

Nestled in the foothills of Mount Warning, in the heart of the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, the Krishna Farm “New Govardhana” is a 1000 acre certified organic property with orchards, veggie gardens, cows, horses, streams and swimming holes in abundance.

The Krishna Village is only one part of this large community of yogis and spiritual-minded people that reside within New Govardhana. The ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) temple and ashram is a 10 minute scenic, uphill walk from the Krishna village, where farm visitors will go for their daily meals, potential karma yoga work and the incredible feast held every Sunday at the temple and its magnificent gardens.

Hare Krishna feasts have been happening in Australia for over forty years, providing the opportunity to be temporarily immersed in a spiritual culture and be fed sacred and DELICIOUS food.

The temple here on New Govardhana hosts a few hundred people every Sunday. A rainbow of embellished saris, families and devotees flock in to experience an afternoon of Kirtan (mantra meditation/chanting and singing) and feast on vegetarian curries, rice, breads and sweets. You can choose to attend a short class on the wisdom of Ancient Vedic India or just relax and enjoy the view of our mountain surrounds. It’s an incredible ambience to spend sunset surrounded by nature, music and smiling people savouring delicious cuisine.

As visitors to the Krishna Village, the Sunday feast offers a snippet of the spiritual teachings available within the Hare Krishna movement which makes it easy to satiate curiosity or learn about ancient traditions, with the freedom to explore the degree you choose. It’s a super fun addition to the experience here at the village that our volunteers, karma yogi’s and yoga teacher trainees are loving being a part of.
