Get ready to Fly, Flow, Connect, Revive & Regain your Power!
Hang tight—this isn't your average yoga flow!
A new form of yoga that can make you fly, Aerial Yoga is a combination of yoga, Pilates, and acrobatics. Most commonly, in aerial yoga, practitioners use a hammock or a swath of soft fabric that is suspended from the ceiling, a few feet off the ground. This hammock is used to support the body in different poses, help you stretch, deepen awareness, provide the immediate benefit of spinal decompression, and achieve a total-body workout.
With the weight of the body partially or fully supported along with the help of gravity, you can explore and create space in your body as intended in traditional Yoga practice. Without the compression of the joints and spine, you can achieve proper posture and alignment through relaxation rather than effort.
Aerial Yoga postures are designed to help the student better understand the purpose of traditional Yoga postures, and some are meant to help students achieve advanced traditional Yoga postures which can take years to learn. Through Aerial Yoga, the fascia unwinds, the mind quiets, core-strength is built, and participants leave the class feeling whole.
During this weekend retreat, you will be encouraged to leave your comfort zone and enjoy the experience of learning and developing strength, flexibility and balance.
The benefits of Aerial Yoga can include:
Decompress the spine & heal back pain
Strengthen core & body

Chandrika Devi Dasi
Chandrika fell in love with Aerial Yoga about 5 years ago. Grabbing a silk sari, she slung it over a beam, instantly creating a hammock. Having already practiced Pole Fitness for 7 years combined with 30 years of Hatha Yoga, she could immediately appreciate the health benefits of Aerial Yoga, such as strengthening, toning and increasing flexibility. Perceiving the advantages for herself and others, she enrolled in a Aerial Yoga Teacher Training Course.
Chandrika has been a student of Bhakti Yoga since 1995. She resides within the Krishna Village Community and is a full-time temple Pujari (Priest). Along with Aerial Yoga, Chandrika’s other qualifications include Sports Massage, Reflexology, Reiki and Tapping. She also loves getting creative in the kitchen and evening bike rides through the mountains!

The Krishna Village Experience
Krishna Village is located on a beautiful organic farm in the scenic foothills of Mt. Warning, half way between Byron Bay and the Gold Coast. Closest town is Murwillumbah, and the nearest airport Coolangatta (the Gold Coast airport).
As an established eco-yoga community and retreat centre we provide a continuous and diverse schedule of daily classes and activities for all our guests, taught by a wide range of instructors.
We offer two Yoga classes per day, one in the early morning and the other mid-afternoon, as well as Kirtan and Yogic Living classes, which encompass a broad variety of topics around healthy yogic living, such as vedic philosophy, meditation, ayurveda, etc.
At the Krishna Village we offer a range of accommodation options spread out over the property of ‘New Govardhana’, from creatively renovated container rooms in the village proper to private pine cabins set in the hills overlooking the valley.
The village itself sits at the bottom of the farm alongside the Oxley river and comprises the majority of our accommodation options, including the Lotus Pod Apartments, the Village Containers, our large campground and powered vehicle sites and the two dormitories. All of the accommodation in the village is serviced by shared amenities, with communal bathrooms providing shower, toilet and laundry facilities.
Common areas are accessible to all our guests but are largely located in the heart of the village and include a large communal kitchen, dining & campfire area, a cosy study and reading room with WiFi access and the newly renovated yoga hall facility, where we gather for classes and which provides a space for private practice of all kinds.
In addition, all of our accommodation is inclusive of 3 meals each day as well as access to our full retreat class schedule, including twice daily yoga sessions.
Village Containers (Single, Double and Twin Share Rooms)
The Krishna Village has 4 double rooms furnished with double beds, 5 twin share rooms with bunk beds and 11 spacious single rooms each with a single bed. All of our rooms have been creatively renovated from former shipping containers into simple yet comfortable and neatly finished accommodation. Bedding is provided for each room, but guests are encouraged to bring their own toiletries and towels for use in the communal bathrooms.
Lotus Pod Double Rooms
Newly renovated in 2018, the Lotus Pod is a beautiful, rustic Queenslander-style building that houses a suite of 6 boutique double rooms. Our cozy double rooms have one double bed and a lovely private patio for you to read, relax and enjoy the sounds of nature. Your room also includes a wardrobe and fan/heater. Maintaining its own internal shared bathrooms, it provides an additional standard of luxury for guests seeking more private accommodation. Bedding is provided for each room, but guests are encouraged to bring their own toiletries and towels.
Camping Ground and Van Sites
Set amongst a forest of beautiful mango and lychee trees next to our eastern syntropic gardens, our camp ground can host up to 30 tents and 10 camper vans (no wider than 2.8m and no longer than 6m). Our vehicle sites are equipped with electricity and are no more than 50m walk from the nearest amenities.
Delicious Vegetarian Food
The Krishna Farm has been producing organic veggies since the 1980s and is well established to grow a variety of high-quality produce, free of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. We grow as much of our own food as we can, and otherwise buy locally wherever possible.
We produce three delicious vegetarian meals every day at the temple kitchen, with food served at the prasadam hall at the top of the hill. Additionally, the village kitchen prepares a bountiful vegan lunch on all days except Saturday, when the volunteers take their day of rest, focusing on produce from the organic gardens and catering to gluten free diets. This lunch is served in the village dining area.
All our food, whether served at the village or the temple, is prasadam - sacred food prepared in a consciousness of loving service. Like in other cultures, we offer our food before we eat to say Grace and thank the Divine for the sun, the rain, and all the visible and invisible blessings necessary to co-create a delicious meal. Feel free to sing along with us, or just listen and enjoy…
The Krishna Farm
Nestled in the foothills of the Wollumbin National Park in the heart of the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, the Hare Krishna Farm “New Govardhana” is a 1000 acre certified organic property with orchards, syntropic vegetable gardens, cows, horses, streams and swimming holes in abundance.
New Govardhana serves as an ashram to a community of yogis who aspire to live according to their deepest vows and commitments on their path of service, spiritual contentment and happiness (Bhakti Yoga). Their service and dedication make this location a beautiful place of growth, healing and spiritual awakening. The temple is the beating heart of the community at New Govardhana and we encourage all who visit the property to come along and experience the lifestyle and philosophy reflected by the practice of Krishna consciousness.
